Corn planting creeping northward
The USDA's latest Crop Progress Report indicates that nearly two-thirds of the top 18 corn producing states have yet to plant their crops or are behind when compared to last year. Nationally, seven percent of the nation's corn has been planted. This is 9 percent below 2010 (16 percent) and one-percent lower than the five-year average. Missouri (26 percent), North Carolina (34), Tennessee (20)
